Initial summary:A soldier who is known to kill multitudes of inter-dimensional invaders, the Jave. His name is Hachisuzuki Suzuka, a 22 year old soldier with a staggering power (a Division 5) who has continually fought on the front lines. Seeking revenge for his slain family, the orphanage he was raised in, and his comrades in arms that died along side him. He kills so many Jave that humanity calls him "The Hero". He suffers from survivor's guilt, always saying "I'll be with you soon..." during each battle. Before he made his final march, he saves a young girl before defeating the "Jave Queen".Now he is reborn as Kuon Okegawa, and he still wants to fight the Jave. Now he has friends and family but has memories of his previous life. Problem is that he is a Division 1, the lowest in power.Overall:It's decent. It's an ecchi Evangelion that is not into depression, but has a lot of fan service. Unlike Infinite Stratos with its infinite harem. I liked the premise. Revenge can create a decent amount of drama, but what happens after you achieved it? That is a question that is addressed in this series. It's a fun, dumb read. If you like ecchi drama with a little comedy, it's a good read.Personal Thoughts (SPOILERS!):-Hachisuzuki loves chocolate. He rarely had access to it in the front lines, but it is little things like this that make me like the MC more. His first words as Kuon is "Choco" as a baby. If you ever been in military (basic training, tours, etc.), you miss little things like this, so it is really relatable.- The main female protagonist, Hanabi ("Fireworks" in Japanese) Suzuka, is the 5 year old that Hachisuzuki saves. Similar to Hachisuzuki, her family and friends were slain before her. She asks him to take her so that she can die with him. She doesn't want to be alone. Hachisuzuki told her, "That is why you need to live. For all those who didn't." I'm a huge sucker for these lines. It's cheese, but wow it is good stuff!- Hanabi grows up to be a pilot like the hero. Of course, hero worship plays a huge role in her personality.- Kuon has to try harder since he doesn't have the resources of his old life. I like this story of top dog to underdog working their way back up, and ACTUALLY put in effort.- There is some uncomfortable overlap in this story. You have a 22 year old turn into a baby then grow up to 13 years old (mental age 35). While a 5 year old girl who fell in love with her 22 year old savior (and THEY ARE RELATIVES), who now loves a 13 year old boy while she is an 18 year old with a very adult body. I really don't know what to call this...-One of my favorite passages with Rin Motegi (Hanabi's adoptive step-sister)."Maybe she was better than me at everything, but I could be a pillow for her to hug when she needed one. Hanabi used to be all skin and bones, but she softened up considerably and grew those humongous knockers.""That would have been a beautiful speech if it weren't for that last line," Fuji sighed, pressing his finger to his brow.
Division Maneuver is definitely a interesting choice for seven seas, the story has a good amount of fan service with some nice combat in there and is fairly detailed with the fighting. It will definitely keep you interested if you like action, romance, and fan service. The only thing i can think of that may be something offputting is the age difference between the MC and heroine.
